What's Around the Farm in San Marcos
The Farm Texas sits on 15 acres just outside the San Marcos city limits, which means you get working-farm quiet with town only minutes away. The spring-fed San Marcos River — one of the clearest in Texas and a constant 72 degrees year-round — is about 15 minutes off for tubing, kayaking, or a swim at the headwaters near the Meadows Center.
For everything else, downtown San Marcos and Texas State University are roughly ten minutes away, and the San Marcos Premium Outlets — one of the largest outlet centers in the country — are right off I-35 for a rainy-day or shopping afternoon. Gruene Historic District, with its dance hall and antique shops, is a 25-minute drive south.
Back on the property, the draw is slowing down: meet the alpacas, Nigerian Dwarf goats, mini horses, and mini cows, collect eggs in the morning, and spend the evening at the fire pit or in the hot tub under a sky far darker than anything in town. It is the kind of trip where the farm itself is half the itinerary.
